Pardon - Feature Film (2019)

Set in the realities of post-war Poland, the film tells the story of mourning parents. In autumn 1946 their son, a Home Army soldier, is shot by the secret police, and the new authorities keep desecrating his body. Hanna and Jacob set out on a 500 km journey to give him a proper burial at the Pacławska Calvary, told through the eyes of their grandson Jan. The trip becomes a journey into the human soul, across a country where neighbours turn against each other and an enemy can become an ally.

Ukrainians’ escape by rail, explained

Since Russia’s invasion on 24 February, more than three million people have fled Ukraine, most of them west into Poland and over two million of them by train. Shot in the border town of Przemyśl, with refugees’ accounts and an interview with the CEO of Ukrainian Railways, Oleksandr Kamyshin, about running trains in wartime.

Konrad Śniady is a film editor based in Warsaw. He holds an M.A. in Film Directing, specialising in editing, from the Polish National Film School in Łódź.

He is the editor of Jan Jakub Kolski’s films Forest, 4 AM and Pardon, the latter awarded at the Gdynia Film Festival, as well as Magdalena Łazarkiewicz’s feature film Kajtek Czarodziej and the HBO feature documentary Boylesque.

He collaborates regularly with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute and has worked with Netflix, TVP, Good Taste Production, Vogue and VOX. He also edits music videos, fashion films and commercials for brands such as RESERVED, ba&sh, Fujifilm, Thule, Empik, Lancerto, Butcher’s and Open’er Festival.

Member of the Polish Filmmakers Association and the Polish Film Editors Association.
